TVGS Game Club Changes! New signup sheet!

Hey all! I’m John, the organizer for the game club discussion and podcast. Over the last few months, we’ve been looking at ways that we can improve both the game club discussion and the podcast, and starting this month we’re enacting some of those changes. Since game club is one of our more popular events, and has mostly been unchanged since we started it 3 years ago, I felt that it would be necessary to write this post up detailing the changes we’re making.

First major change: We’re switching methods on how we’re deciding on hosts, we now have a signup sheet to put yourself down as a future host for game club. We’ll be doing it first come, first served, but this makes it guaranteed that you’ll host at some point in the future. We also now have a mailing list specifically for game club so you’ll get emailed when a game and/or host is selected. You can find the sign up for both at the link here.

Our second major change is we are going to stop recording the monthly discussions from here on out. There’s a large number of reasons for this, but the main one is that any changes we would make to the podcast would alter the way we conduct the discussion, which we are happy with already! So our plan is that we’re going to separate them out, game club discussions as they are now will remain the same, and the podcast discussions will be relaunched as a separate event at some point in the future.

We don’t have any plans for the return of the podcast yet however. The main blocker on developing it is we need a dedicated audio editor to work on our current backlog and any future episodes. (If you or someone you know would be interested in that, send a line over to events@techvalleygamespace.com) Even if we get an editor it’ll probably be a bit before we relaunch it, rest assured that it’ll be posted everywhere once it starts!

Hopefully, these changes will make the game club a more enjoyable experience for everyone! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about this, feel free to email me at JohnCeceriTheThird@gmail.com.

Thanks for everyone who’s attended and hosted over the years! I hope I’ll keep seeing you all at the discussions!

~John & The TVGS Team.
